I was hired to launch the Silicon Valley Memory Walk in 2008, hoping for 500 walkers and $170,000 in fundraising. We had more than 1,000 walkers and revenue of $235,000 the first year! The walk experienced incredible growth in just four years: In 2009, we had 1,300 walkers and raised $271,000. In 2010, 2,000 walkers raised $394,000. In 2011, the walk was rebranded the Silicon Valley Walk to End Alzheimer's, drawing 2,300 participants and raising more than $460,000. It is now a million dollar event. As walk manager, I handled team and walker recruitment, fundraising, corporate sponsorship, volunteer engagement, event logistics, and all walk day coordination. Show less
