I've had the pleasure of working with Lance at both Walmart.com and Nike (where I served as an Agile product coach). Lance is a rare software engineering leader - he skillfully blends astute product, design and technology leadership, with the ability to assemble and lead high-performing cross-functional teams to consistently deliver high quality, market moving products. What really astounds me about Lance is his ability to move from the strategic, road-map level of planning through to the nitty gritty tactical details required to bring high-scale, massive transaction volume ecommerce sites to life. Best of all Lance is a "good guy" - intense yet easy-going, smart but not brooding, driven and fun loving. He breeds trust, loyalty and performance among his teams. For companies who care about culture AND results, you would be hard-pressed to find someone better than Lance to lead a product organization. I would go out of my way to work with him again (and again)!
