Ventura, CA As Charge RN for a newly-opened surgical center, my skills of attention to detail and organization were implemented to help set-up run smoothly. A few of my day-to-day tasks involve inventory management, and representing the company to vendors and reps to achieve a good working relationship and fair pricing. My Charge Nurse role also includes close coordination with the surgeons about their preferences, especially for new surgeries that my staff had never done before. I act as Infection Control Manager for my site, ensuring correct practices of biohazard disposal and instrument sterilization are carried out. My colleagues have commented on my diligence in work and eager curiosity toward how I can always improve. With my workplace being a growing physician-owned outpatient surgery practice, my responsibilities and skills reach much farther than the typical RN. I have hard earned knowledge with the engineering/mechanics of how a surgery center runs, including backup generator monitoring and preventative maintenance on expensive, vital medical equipment. My surgery center attained CMS accreditation upon opening due to the hard work of my colleagues and myself ensuring all aspects of the center were compliant and our staff appropriately trained to provide excellent patient care. Norfolk, Virginia Area I furthered my post-surgical care experience at Sentara Heart Hospital as a valued RN in a CardioThoracic Stepdown Unit. Working day shift, I learned the importance of multidisciplinary coordination for patient's care between physical therapy, respiratory therapy, physicians, and many more. My uniquely kind bedside manner never wavered despite more stress and growing pains of becoming one of the more experienced RNs on the floor. My husband's career moved us away from Virginia to California.

Dallas, TX My first RN position was on a Cardiac-Thoracic Surgical Telemetry floor. We handled post-surgical patients straight from ICU on cardiac drips, and also a variety of complicated medical-surgical patients requiring telemetry monitoring. I learned valuable lessons about the realities of healthcare and the unique roles nurses can play in people's most stressful life moments. My husband's career moved us away from Texas to Virginia.

    • Standardized Patient
      • Sep 2013 - Apr 2014

I performed simulated patient cases for the medical students in order for them to polish their assessment and communication skills with patients. During this experience I gained valuable insight from these future physicians about effective communication skills and efficient technical skills.

    • Caregiver and Assistant
      • Nov 2013 - Jan 2014

College Station, TX I assessed the medical needs of an elderly couple at least twice a week and coordinated communication between their family, their doctors, and their home health agency.

    • Patient Services Office Worker
      • Sep 2011 - Dec 2012

I applied communication and organizational skills to effectively perform clerical work (i.e. assisting patients with their appointments and insurance billing) for the Patient Services office at the health center on the Texas A&M University campus.

    • Cashier/Trainer
      • May 2007 - Aug 2011

Arlington, TX I utilized organizational and time management skills to uphold the restaurant's reputation of quick, friendly service. I handled the main register with responsibility for exact money exchange. I performed my job with such outstanding customer satisfaction skills that I was asked to train new employees.
