  My day is split between the BBC Wales film archive and the BBC Wales stills collection. Film preparation involves responding to research and telecine transfer requests by selecting and compiling films using a Steenbeck. In most instances this involves re-syncing, filling and cleaning the films. I also assist in the acquisition, accessioning and cataloging of incoming material. I refer to various computer systems for information retrieval, whilst also inputting new information. When working with the photo stills collection I apply a selection process influenced by the BBC Photographic Stills Policy. This part of my role involves identifying various different film formats and using certain archive search tools to identify and catalogue stills both online and in their physical form. I scan film and prints and carry out BBC Archive standard image adjustment using Photoshop ready for digital upload. Show less
