I have worked with many professionals in my line of work, but never before with someone as smart & positive as Lawanna. I started my career working as a physician and then found myself leading teams in healthcare, something medical school did not prepare me for. Lawanna has remarkable leadership and advisory skills and I was lucky to be able to benefit from her mentorship and friendship. Not only did she show me many techniques for being a good leader, but she helped me navigate some of the most challenging situations I never expected to encounter in my career. Lawanna gave me helpful tips and advice on how to navigate very complex interpersonal dynamics and be a better leader. Lawanna is a top leader who demonstrates humility, strength and humor putting others at ease. Lawanna always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needs it. Her ability to mentor and guide me in growing as an inclusive leader, always with a smile and sense of humor are qualities any leader or employee will benefit from working with. She is truly a cut above the rest!

As a leader, Lawanna is inspirational and gives the team excellent motivation to achieve our goals. She also maintains a positive attitude, which encourages our team to maintain a positive outlook and focus on the big picture. She pulls the absolute best out of me everyday and I am thankful to have had her as a leader.

As a recent hire, Lawanna brought an unparalleled detailed interview and onboarding experience that was seamless and efficient as I joined as an attorney at Shutts & Bowen LLP. I appreciated the genuine care, knowledge, and ambition Lawanna presented throughout the entire process, as well as the first impression she instilled of the Tampa office’s established firm culture, which was a key factor in my decision to join. Lawanna's previous management experience is evident in her carrying out her current role as she identifies challenges and proactively resolves them, including, from the perspective of an attorney, by providing relevant training, guidance, and resources or referrals to resources when needed, and informing of opportunities available to accomplish career goals. As Office Administrator of the Tampa office for over seven years, her influence is reflected in the noticeably organized, collaborative, motivated, and happy work-environment. Lawanna uses her many talents for the benefit of attorneys, staff, and the firm and her value is noticed each day, which is not only appreciated, but also has become a necessity to the well-run operations of our office.

As Office Administrator overseeing the Tampa and Sarasota offices at Shutts & Bowen, I had a broad range of responsibilities encompassing operational management, staffing, recruitment, office construction, and strategic planning for both locations. My collaborative efforts with the office managing partner were geared toward aligning our hiring strategies with the specific needs of our clients. This involved recruiting attorneys who excelled in client service and demonstrated a commitment to fostering a work environment characterized by collegiality, collaboration, and the delivery of top-tier legal services. Directed day-to-day operations for two offices, overseeing a team of approximately 45 attorneys and 50 non-attorney professionals. Collaborated with Tampa equity partners to formulate and execute a formal strategic plan. This plan defined office objectives and harmonized them with the broader firm goals. It set the stage for implementing initiatives necessary to achieve our mission and vision. Played a pivotal role as the primary contact point for non-attorney and attorney recruitment. Served as a bridge between attorney candidates and equity partners, practice groups, and other key personnel within the firm. Managed all onboarding procedures for new hires in the Tampa and Sarasota offices. Oversaw the maintenance and optimization of physical facilities, furnishings, and equipment. This involved collaborating with contractors, architects, decorators, vendors, and suppliers. As a project manager, led three buildouts and managed two office moves. Achieved recognition for the Tampa office as one of the "Best Places to Work" by the Tampa Bay Business Journal. This accolade underscored my ability to cultivate a workplace culture that actively engaged employees, as evidenced by comprehensive employee engagement surveys. Show less
