      As an Academic Support Coach I support Higher Education students with their academic studies through a series of support services and a programme of coaching. The role is based within Newcastle College. The main curriculum areas that I support students are: Beauty and Makeup, Business, Culinary Arts, and Travel and Hospitality Management. I also support the additional site at Carlisle College. Main duties associated with the role: - Plan and deliver a programme of coaching and support which: • Supports students in one-to-one settings to develop HE-relevant skills; • Deliver multi-disciplinary workshops as relevant to HE learning enhancement; • Develop electronic resources that students and staff can use to improve academic standards; • Enhance the learner journey and develop the acquisition of key academic and digital literacy. - Work with teaching teams and support teams to develop a proactive approach to supporting 'at risk' learners. - Work with relevant internal entities to develop research and study skills support to improve learner utilisation of College resources across the campuses. - Develop a range of workshops and resources that develop academic skills in diverse curriculum areas. - Develop and facilitate the academic summer school for prospective students. Achievements associated with the role: - Planned and coordinated the delivery of dissertation workshops (both online and in-person) and writing retreat during the Easter semester break for dissertation students. Supported the team in the delivery of the workshops and retreat. - Created a survey to identify what academic skills current Level 4 students found challenging. The findings have allowed for curriculum-specific academic support to be implemented for Level 4 and 5 students in the upcoming academic year (22-23). - Assisted in the planning and development of the higher education skills session to be led by the Learning Enhancement Team for the summer school (2022).
