Laurie served as the Director of Bioremediation for Ramboll Environ, which involved developing and implementing innovative bioremediation projects around the world. She has conducted in situ bioremediation for a wide variety of contaminants in groundwater including: chlorinated solvents, explosives (TNT, DNT, perchlorate, fuel hydrocarbons (BTEX, diesel, PAHs, etc.), nitrate, sulfate and various metals. She has performed bench-scale, field-scale and full-scale implementation of biostimulation and bioaugmentation projects. Several of her full-scale bioremediation projects resulted in more than a three order of magnitude reduction in the chlorinated ethenes and led to the projects being transitioned into a monitored natural attenuation program.
