  I plan and facilitate a variety of Cognitive Behavioural programmes for offenders within the Probation Service. I currently specialise in domestic abuse and relationship improvement with recent experience in drug and alcohol management and thinking skills programmes. When facilitating group sessions I address offending behaviour through motivational interviewing, active listening, Socratic questioning, pro-social modelling and coaching. I have a catalogue of effective skills to manage aggressive and abusive behaviour. I assess and react appropriately to a wide spectrum of offender needs ensuring equal access to learning. I also assess and manage individual offender’s risk of harm and likelihood of reoffending and share, where relevant, this information with case managers and outside agencies. I complete accurate offender profiling, produce written reports on individuals and make contributions to programme manuals. To ensure continual professional development within this role, I undertake formal peer discussion in regard to relevant social issues (e.g. domestic abuse or gang information) and psychological approaches and theories.
