Bio
Jon McLachlan (he/him, 🏳️🌈)
I've had the honor of working directly with Florin Moisa for 3 years during my tenure at Symphony Communications as Product Security Engineering Manager. Though not my direct report, he consistently demonstrated expertise in server technologies, with a sharp focus on how the details impact the big picture. He approached fresh problems with a contagious sense of humility and humor that made him a critical resource for nearly all engineering deliverables at Symphony. He engendered a strong sense of ownership without being territorial. He engaged questions that matter, and openly and transparently challenged folks to rethink "what is the right thing to build?" - in every corner of the product. He saw the system as a whole, as an entire ecosystem of software, not just as a segmented set of responsibilities compartmentalized by political stakeholders. Despite his not being on the Product Security engineering team directly, his contributions to Product Security went well above and beyond friendly collaboration, for which the team and I welcomed, and came to think of him as a complementary and unofficial Product Security Engineer, and, were most excited and grateful to have had the pleasure of working with him on mission critical product security deliverables. Wherever Florin goes, the team he's on will be extremely fortunate to have such a dedicated, smart, and down-to-earth engineer on the team.
