To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to support Lauren Wetherell regarding her future professional endeavors. Ms. Wetherell has been working for Community Bridges for two years as our Middle School Program Manager. In that role, she thrives in helping the girls feel connected to the work and engaged enough to give back to their schools and communities. Her passion for the work is contagious, but not just when it comes to the work we do with our girls. As Ms. Wetherell has grown in her interest regarding all aspects of nonprofit leadership and management, so too has the quality of her work. It is this passion for the sector that propelled her to start the Silver Spring Youth Worker Collaborative—a coalition committed to helping youth workers in the frontlines get connected to each other for support, learning and advocacy. In addition, she was selected to join the Young Nonprofit Professional Network’s Leadership Council to help train and support the development of young professionals in the DC metro area. Most recently, she took part of Montgomery College’s Nonprofit Leadership Institute to grow in her understanding of the work involved in developing nonprofits. I have seen Ms. Wetherell begin to build upon these varied experiences for the good of Community Bridges. Be it in taking a leadership role on a specific project, to providing insight on how to improve organizational practices to help with staff morale, communication and overall efficiency. In time, as she develops her skills, I believe she will make an excellent leader and manager. And as the needs of our community grow, we will need leaders with more than just passion for the issues and people, but skill, experience and a sound knowledge base to help nonprofit organizations propel change for all.
