  I am currently undertaking a 4-month full time research role at the Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science. Throughout my time here I will be focussing on a family of transposable elements known as SINE-VINTR-Alus (SVAs) and their potential contribution to Parkinson's Disease (PD). Carrying on from my Masters' research project. This research will incorporate a series of wet lab techniques including cell culture strategies, transfection, qPCR etc. and bioinformatic analysis.   During this time I undertook a summer placement at The Walton Centre in the Neuroscience Research Centre as part of the Research, Development and Innovation Team (R,D & I). Throughout my time spent here I organised and input data for numerous research trials participating at the Walton Centre, through the navigation of new software programmes. I also spent time observing numerous clinics with trial participants and aiding where possible.
