A HUC is similar to a receptionist but has a little more responsibility. Along with answering phones at the nursing station, I also perform all non-clinical tasks such as: -lab orders/print outs. -scheduling procedures/follow up appointments. -order supplies/store them away. -I take care of all the patients charts. -I organize the nursing station. -My job is to basically make life a little bit easier for the Nurses and Doctors. I check for any errors and I can even help the nurses with discharges or receiving blood for a patient that needs a transfusion if they're extremely busy, which is usually the case. Show less
