I offer classes in Environmental Art & Design through a process of community engagement Fall 2014: "What's Hip about Eco-Hop" is collaborating with Acta Non Verba Youth Farm, East Oakland, CA to contribute print material, social media development, artwork, site furnishing, signage, video documentation and hands-in-the-dirt. Spring 2015: "Animating Public Space" will collaborate with Food Guardians, SF Public Health and 2 urban farms in San Francisco's Bayview District. Sample Projects: 2014 Project Pigway. Mentoring CCA students during their design-build experience in rural Ecuador through a Social Impact Award 2013 ART/A.R.T. Create physical models and interactive workshops re: adapting to rising tides as part of the exhibit "Sea Change", Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center, California 2012 SANCafe Project -11th Biennial Art Exhibition, La Habana, Cuba. Lead Artist for Bay Area team. Food shed mapping, field-to-table cooking and public food tasting project. Collaboration with independent organic farmers in the San Agustin neighborhood. Sponsored by the social practice collective: Laboratorio Artistico de San Agustin. 2012 Dorothy Saxe Group Exhibition: “Trees: Do Not Destroy”, Contemporary Jewish Museum, San Francisco, CA. Tree sculpture which is also a Native Bee habitat. Previously Elder designed for performance in collaboration with Bay Area ensembles, e.g. Motion and Contraband) (1979-1996) Work was supported by 3 NEA grants for Interdisciplinary Art, 2 individual grants from the California Arts Council, the Eureka Sculpture Fellowship, numerous grants from the City of Oakland Cultural Arts Division and 3 Isadora Duncan Awards for Visual Design. My principal venue was Peralta Elementary School, Oakland, California where I designed and managed the installation of 3 multi-purpose gardens.
