I work in the Planning and EIA team in Greater Manchester, co-ordinating and preparing planning applications, Environmental Impact Assessments, and environmental appraisals for a range of projects. I have prepared applications for waste, minerals, renewable energy, housing, commercial and industrial projects. My work requires a technical understanding of environmental assessments and legislation, as well as an understanding of the economic, technical, planning and policy issues required to support detailed planning submissions. I have experience of working on planning applications from early procurement and design stages, planning consultation, through to determination and discharge of planning conditions, liaising with relevant stakeholders and working closely with the wider multi-disciplinary team. I am committed to professional development, self improvement and am keen to gain experience in other project areas. Show less

Apr 2011 - May 2012
Following the completion of two successful 12-week internships in 2010/2011, I continued working at Wardell Armstrong in the Energy and Waste resources team in Stoke-on-Trent as a Graduate Environmental Scientist . My responsibilities involved undertaking various types of technical assessment and analysis with particular regard to renewable energy, sustainability, energy efficiency and waste resource management. My work contributed towards planning applications for a range of both public sector and commercial developments. As part of our business development I was part of a team who developed a comprehensive model and simulation for the waste industry, with a focus on material recycling facilities. I was also involved with the delivery of public funded projects, such as RESCO (Renewable Energy Supply Chain Opportunities) and RESCO Aim High, supporting the provision of one-to-one business support and helping to organise and run business development workshops and networking events. This business support and engagement programme was to support diversification of existing supply chains in the West Midlands towards bio-energy and small scale renewable energy technologies Show less
