I assisted the owner, Jodie, in training clients dogs. I learned basic training skills and some animal behaviors. I interacted with the clients a lot, taught them all the skills Jodie showed and helped anyone who was having a hard time working with their pet. I worked on the community outreach team where we could go into Back of the Yard and Englewood and inform community members on the benefits of spay/neuter on their pets. Then we would provide spay/neuter, flea/tick, rabies shots and microchips for free for all of their pets. We would pick up people's pet from their homes, give them our services and then drive their pets back. I handled many cats and many dogs, scruffed cats and carried dogs. We held food pantries for all the people who used our services and provided them with free food, dogs/cat toys, litter boxes, leashes, bed etc. Our goal was to create a no-kill Chicago and spay and neuter as many pets as we could to help reduce the population of stray animals.
