  Internship began with providing assistance to the Education Coordinator with weekly orientation for new arrivals to the U.S. through the Resettlement Program provided by Catholic Charities Indianapolis (CCI) I eventually assumed the task of preparing and facilitating the orientation process, assisting in developing and implementing the basic class/workshop for those previously or currently receiving services. I also participated in the volunteer mentor program, through which I was assigned a group of women who I visited with on a regular basis, serving as a liaison with CCI and the local community. I provided extra support in their first few months in the U.S., and oriented them to their new community and culture. Other tasks included shadowing Care Coordinators, assisting with welfare and Social Security appointments, grocery shopping for new arrivals, and providing airport pick-ups. Show less
