From a small team of 3 to a team of 6 I progressed to the role of Art Editor, managing and mentoring new recruits over the years.Currently I am the Art Editor of National Geographic Traveller (UK) and National Geographic Traveller Food magazines. A few of my responsibilities are:-- Commissioning and briefing photographers, illustrators and cartographers. -- Liaising with the Editor over future issues, discussing possible features, recommending destinations.-- Keeping in communication with all of our regular photographers and illustrators, planning their availability, scheduling time tables and deadlines. -- Charting photographers travels in order to plan matches with our features list, up to 6 months ahead. -- Filtering through photographer's pitches and taking action on those I deem relevant and worthy. -- Manage the picture budget for every issue.-- Designing the cover and large proportion of every issue.-- Managing and proofing the work created by the rest of the design team.-- Signing off pages for press.-- Creating artwork for online and social channels.I was also the Art Editor of a 172 page consumer publication; Spa Secrets magazine (a bi-monthly spa, lifestyle, travel, health, beauty, fitness and fashion magazine), which I often managed and designed solely, other times delegating to a team. Part of my role includes image research and negotiating with image libraries and model agencies.Additional publications I have worked on include: National Geographic Traveller's supplements and other smaller publications; Welcome to London; ABTA magazine and ABTA supplements; Hyatt magazine; and ASTA magazine.
