Laureen is a very bright young lady and a hard-work professional. Under my supervison she sucessfully completed a difficult MPhil project. She was dedicated towards her work and her performance was nothing less than excellent. I would not hesitate recomending her.

Laureen graduated from the University of Surrey in 2009, where she obtained a First class BSc (Hons) Biomedical Sciences degree. She is now a PhD student in the 4 years MRC-funded Stem Cell Biology program. After completing her rotation year, she chose to work on the development of human puripotent models of Huntington's disease. Whilst very good in vivo models of Huntington's disease have been generated, the widely used cell culture models of Huntington's disease are predominantly derived from tumour cell lines and are far from optimal. To bridge this gap in essential research tools to define an HD phenotype in vitro, she has embarked on an initiative to generate human embryonic and induced pluripotent stem cell models of the disease with aim of defining Huntington's disease-specific cellular phenotype. Laureen is also fully trained to work under current Good Manufacturing practice conditions.
