I've just had a series of coaching with Laura and have been blown away by how her gentle, supportive, encouraging, insightful approach has taken my thinking to the next level and unlocked revelations from inside me. Her facilitation of my thought process has given me the tools I needed to find clarity and peace, and know how to continue to have those going forward. I highly recommend Laura's coaching. it has truly been transforming.

Laura has an easy-going style as a coach and quickly created a safe space for me to think and be challenged by her insightful reflective statements and questions. She listened without judgement and gently challenged my beliefs and fears that cropped up in the conversation. Good use of affirmations to acknowledge and encourage my growth and development.

    • NCT Practitioner (antenatal)
      • Sep 2009 - Present

I facilitate courses for expectant parents in my local area. I teach them how to create strategies for themselves that they can use during labour, birth and in the early days of parenting. We discuss the latest evidence so that parents can make informed decisions about the care they would like to receive. I work to instil confidence in them for the labour and birth process and help to empower them to have a positive experience, whatever their birth is. I became an Excellent Practitioner in May 2016. Excellent Practitioner status is a recognition of excellent skills in antenatal facilitating and an example of best practice within the NCT. As part of my continual professional development, I attend study days on the latest research in labour and parenting and remain up to date on the latest evidence. Show less

I played a key role in ensuring that the needs of women and families, and women’s voices are heard and acted upon across greater London as part of maternity services development and improvement within the framework of Better Births. The MVP strategy group aims to ensure that all Maternity Voices Partnerships across London are adequately resourced and valued. I ran a regular session on Maternity Voices Partnerships and in particular the work of Bromley MVP as part of the curriculum for final year student midwives at the University of Greenwich. The session was interactive and informative for the students as many of them had not heard of MVPs or the coproduction work that can be achieved. I was part of a panel of people interviewing students wishing to study midwifery at Kings College London. Via a series of multiple mini interviews. I had to quickly establish if the candidates have the necessary skills and aptitude to become a midwife and score their answers against the NHS values. I led a multidisciplinary committee of service users, health care professionals and commissioners. The committee exists in order to plan, monitor and oversee maternity services in the borough of Bromley. We advised Bromley Clinical Commissioning Group on services that should be commissioned and provide feedback and support to Kings College Hospital Trust from service users. The committee is also involved in project work at the hospital, promoting best practice. I have presented the work of our committee to different target groups, including student midwives at the University of Greenwich and band 4 nurses at Kings College Hospital. In October 2016 I was honoured to be asked to speak at the Women's Voices conference in London about the role and importance of MSLCs in improving maternity care. Show less
