Third placement for both PII and PIII of the St.FX IDI program.At the IWK I spent time with both food services and clinical nutrition. During my food service management placement I co-lead Malnutrition Week at the hospital, was involved in several projects related to management, employee engagement, budgeting, marketing, and more, and I also had the opportunity to spend five weeks with the Professional Practice Leader of clinical nutrition to learn more about policy development and enhance my research skills. During my clinical nutrition placement I did rotations with pediatric diabetes/endocrinology, oncology/hematology, intensive care/surgical, and nephrology. All of these rotations provided me with hands on experience in nutrition counselling, nutrition education, and nutrition support. I also was able to conduct a major research project piloting the first two nutrition screening tools at the IWK and I co-lead the Nutrition Month campaign at the hospital.
