  MSc research project on the microbial ecology of Inferno Crater Lake in the Waimangu geothermal valley. Culture-independent DNA based techniques, including 454 pyrosequencing and quantitative PCR, were used to assess changes in microbial diversity and abundance across different temperature points during Inferno Crater Lake's monthly temperature cycle between 30 and 80 degrees Celsius.
