Working closely with the Project Manager and Dance Artists to develop and deliver a series of tailored workshops as part of the National Lottery Heritage Funded project Akademi at 40 - Celebrating 40 Years of Akademi. I deliver a series of oral history workshops, remotely during Covid-19, to 1 primary school class and 2 South Asian dance schools with students aged between 8-24. The workshops explore themes of migration, culture, identity and diaspora through a series of exciting activities and discussions with peers alongside the development of communication and oral history skills, culminating in students recording oral history interviews with elders, friends and relatives. I incorporate reflection into the sessions through practise, role play and peer evaluation of recorded interviews, drawing out themes that occur. I work with dance artists to devise how these themes will translate to the second half of the project where students will devise a piece of choreography based on migration, culture, identity and diaspora.
