JFCS of the Suncoast is an organization that supports any member of the community that needs help. My time at JFCS was an incredible one; each day witnessing great need, and seeing that need met by teams of dedicated professionals in social services and mental health. My role was to manage and develop all fundraised income with a target of $3million annually. Working mostly in major gifts, we worked to create “appeal to support” by showing the work of JFCS through unique opportunities of project visitations, online campaigns, large fundraising events and personally meeting with donors to understand their interest in areas to support. At a time of organizational restructure it was paramount that we created strong relationships to sustain income — in fundraising nothing is guaranteed but true success for the organization lies in relationships. Along with my team, we sustained through changeable times and delivered income that allowed the agency to operate and meet the needs of the community, without hesitation.

Responsible for the development of annual fundraised income and the capital appeal for the Marine Society & Sea Cadets UK/Royal Navy. The Sea Cadets provided a save haven for young people, many of whom needed guidance and a change of environment to flourish and grow. The organization supported the mental health of 1000s of young people by providing a place where positive attitude was celebrated and courage was built. Based in London the role also included management of over 320 individual “units” nationwide which acted as their own independent charities - my team and I supported their fundraising projects in England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Major areas of focus for me personally were the Capital Appeal for the replacement of Training Ship TS Royalist (alongside a high-profile capital appeal committee), HQ Annual Fundraising and Organizational Development.

Mencap UK is a truly incredible organization that is devoted to supporting individuals with learning disabilities and their families. As head of fundraising for Northern Ireland and Wales, I managed annual fundraised income and worked with the national team on the Charity Partnership with Co-op in 2011. This partnership was the 2nd largest charity-corporate partnership in the UK bringing over £10 million in community raised income to Mencap. In Northern Ireland I oversaw the archetype for a new Mencap Center which was later built to provide first class support and care to 1000s of children and families. A true model of excellence, this center continues to run today with exceptional service, important research and delivery of support to the community of Northern Ireland.

The NW200 is Northern Ireland’s largest sporting event and it contributes over £15 million to the local economy annually. As head of development I was responsible for growing the event’s income, through national and international partnerships. The event had been organically grown by an amazing local team and I was proud to join that team to further enhance the profile and support of the prestigious week long event on the island of Ireland!
