    • Rental Librarian and Production Associate
      • Apr 2020 - May 2020

In the added role of Production Associate, I contributed to the house-style preparation and archiving of musical scores for both digital and print distribution. The position also required writing occasional copy and frequent web-editing for the enhancement and streamlining of web content, with a particular focus on rental works.

    • Rental Librarian
      • Feb 2016 - Apr 2020

As the Rental Librarian, my duties largely consisted of responding to the inquiries of those who had rented or who wished to rent sheet music as published by Edition Peters or its distributed publishers. Daily tasks included issuing rental price quotes, gathering requested materials, cataloguing on Hire Library Management System for Windows (HLMSW) and Personalized Retail Inventory and Accounts Management (PRIAM), billing, and restocking returned music. I also assisted with various special projects. Show less

      • Nov 2014 - Jun 2015

I covered retail sales in person and online, received and processed orders from wholesale account holders and relayed information to and from the office, roasting room, warehouse, and delivery drivers on the road. Due to my knowledge and love of tea, I took part in the production of house-blended hot teas, and answered customer questions with regard to tea. I regularly decorated and organized the retail area and packaged gifts, tea, and coffee. Through the company, I also taught weekly English lessons to 2–4 Spanish-speaking coworkers at the local library. Show less

  • Self-Employed
    • Urbana, Illinois; Prospect Heights, Illinois
    • Violin Tutor
      • Jul 2013 - Jun 2015

I founded a violin lesson service with a specialization in beginner classical violin and Irish fiddle, which I independently marketed in print and online. My students were both children and adults, who may or may not have had any musical experience before. I tailored each lesson to individual concerns and goals, and sought out answers for questions I could not address immediately. As it is often difficult to find group activities aimed towards adult beginner students, I hosted a number of social and educational events so that my students could have the opportunity to meet each other as well as other local musicians. I invited them to attend local music events as a supplemental way to learn and stay curious about music. Show less

    • Waitstaff Manager
      • Dec 2013 - Sep 2014

As waitstaff manager, I was responsible for organizing and leading a team of ranging generally from 2 to 7 people, including myself. I made prudent, on-the-spot judgment calls, addressed customer service issues, created schedules, and strategized for heavy traffic nights. In coordination with the managing chef, I helped to balance registers at the end of the night in preparation for service the following day.

    • Waitstaff Team Member
      • Jul 2012 - Dec 2013

As part of the waitstaff team, I acted as host, waiter, food runner, busser, bartender, and cashier, simultaneously during each shift. I also helped with minor food preparation, as needed.

As a violinist, I performed professionally in three, two-concert seasons together with other local professionals and high-school students. The repertoire featured American classics such as John Philip Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever," music from popular films, and new music by University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) composition students, commissioned by the orchestra. • Sep 2007 - Feb 2011

I collaborated with five to seven musicians to prepare and arrange original music, which we performed at a variety of venues from Champaign-Urbana's Pygmalion Music Festival to a house show in a kitchen. My contribution was largely on violin but I also added vocals on a 5-track demo CD and on our full-length album, The House You're Living In, recorded by Matt Talbott at Great Western Studios in Tolono, Illinois. I sold merchandise and marketed our shows, and helped to coordinate a week-long tour in January 2010, which took place in the American Midwest. Show less

      • Jul 2009 - Aug 2009

I independently sought out work as an au pair and traveled to Santander, Spain to function as caretaker, mentor, and playmate for a girl who was at the time, five years old, and learning to deal with cochlear implants. I communicated in Spanish. I lightly tutored the girl in the English language, and reinforced my host family's existing English skills. I assisted with errands, cooking and cleaning duties, and accompanied family in travel to the areas surrounding Valencia, Spain and A Coruña, Spain. Show less

    • Multi-Instrumentalist
      • Nov 2005 - Aug 2008

The Academy of Irish Music is both a school and performance group which competes at the Midwest Fleadh and performs at festivals such as the Milwaukee Irish Fest, Chicago Celtic Fest, and the Irish American Heritage Center (IAHC) Irish Fest every year. During my time with the Academy, I performed on both fiddle and viola for the American Ambassador to Ireland, Mayor Daley’s Saint Patrick’s Day party in Chicago, and traveled to Ireland to attend the Joe Mooney Summer School, additionally. As part of the group, I took part in creating musical sets of traditional tunes mixed with original harmonies and transitions that became both performance staples and material for competition.
