As a member of the Parenting Assessment Team (P.A.T.), I assisted in conducting court-ordered Parenting Assessment Evaluations of parents who were involved with the Department of Children and Family Services and who were diagnosed with mental illness. Additionally, I functioned as a Diagnostic and Therapy Intern. In these two roles, I: • Conducted weekly intake procedures, including mental health assessments and treatment plan development, for new P.A.T. clients• Completed extensive record reviews for new P.A.T. clients that integrated social, medical, legal, psychological and psychiatric history• Conducted collateral contacts with treatment providers to obtain information regarding the parent’s treatment progress, and parenting strengths and weaknesses• Performed extensive social history interviews with the P.A.T. parent under investigation, and with each parent’s paramour (where applicable)• Conducted child interviews with each of the parent’s children • Administered the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test, Fourth Edition to each of the parent’s children • Conducted observations of the parent interacting with each child separately, and of the parent interacting with all of their children• Determined the risk level of each parent through thorough risk assessments • Attended weekly inter-disciplinary team meetings• Contributed all information obtained to fellow P.A.T. members and the supervising Psychologist for inclusion in the final court report • Completed weekly intake procedures including mental health assessments and treatment plan development for new non-P.A.T. clients• Conducted weekly therapy sessions, with a total caseload of 4-7 clients • Created a group for adult trauma victims
