  Coordinate fish collections from local fisherman, the MN DNR, and fish hatcheries. As well as go out and fish on surrounding lakes for educational purposes in the aquarium. Take care of the quaratine of incoming fish as well as administering fish treatments. Maintain water quality for those fish by checking ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, pH, dissolved oxygen, and salinity. I understand the mechanics of the life support systems each of these fish tanks is on and how to maintain it. Also, I keep detailed records daily about diet, water quality, and treatments in ZIMs and am the administrator for ZIMs for the husbandry department. I am also the husbandry intern coordinator for the Great Lakes Aquarium. I train the interns, make their daily/ weekly schedules, and help with their assigned projects. I get to scuba dive in our largest tank (45,000 gallons) and feed the sturgeon at the bottom. I can really say that I love my job! Show less
