The project involves writing 800-word stories on researching faculty members at the Sprott School of Business. Each faculty's story provides a unique narrative of their academic journey and the evolution of their research over their career. With a personal element to each one, the aim of the stories is to showcase the projects within their research program, their professional successes, accomplishments, and their academic acumen; as well as the importance of their research for key invested stakeholders and potential new graduate-level students. The stories can be used in the department's annual reports and other relevant marketing documents. Each story requires preliminary research on faculty's area of expertise, followed by an in-depth hour-long interview - a conversation to gain a full understanding of their research projects within their program - understanding motives, passions, an impetus for a decision in their research, and most importantly, how their research is making significant contributions beyond academia. Much of the work requires a successful collaboration and synergistic approach with the faculty member - with effective and timely communication and liaising back and forth during the editing process to ensure exception story telling.

I provide clients with both mechanical and stylistic editing services for a diverse range of topics. My big picture goal is to ensure that the writer's work is the best it can be, to allow the reader to have the best experience they can have; and so my approach with every client is to be sensitive, constructive, and have a synergistic philosophy to ensure a successful relationship between writer and editor. With a great combination - and unique - set of skills and experiences as a scientist, creative writer, and copy editor, I understand that every project requires a high level of professionalism, integrity, authenticity, comprehension and efficiency. I aim to excel at, and embrace continual learning and personal growth. Experience with copy-editing and to some degree, story-editing, has included scripts - both for television and for the big screen, health and wellness books, magazine articles, scientific papers, and advertisements in print publications.
