• I completed a 14 week summer placement programme in ABP Bandon. The 14 weeks I completed in ABP was broken into two week blocks so I got a chance to spend time in each department. The 6 departments were: Human resource and payroll Health and safety Shipping and despatch Boning hall production planning and sales Production Quality Assurance Procurement During my time in HR and Payroll i was responsible for assisting in interviews, inductions, formation of contracts, disciplinary meetings and day to day meetings in the factory taking minutes. As part of my placement I also was heavily involved in organising a charity soccer event.Shipping and despatch consisted of organising the different logistics and what products were to be dispatched to various depots. In Quality Assurance, I was responsible for helping the quality assurance manager with daily checks such as pH, carcass temperature, carcass chill readings, water temperature checks. While in production I learned the various cuts of meat. I worked on the intake scales while down in production scanning in the various carcass' under their different categories. Being in production you see how all the different consumers require different specs and how these needs are met at the end of the line.
