    • Behaviour Counsellor
      • Sep 2014 - Oct 2018

I act as a member of a team of behaviour counselors and receive individual referrals for children age four to nine engaging in problem behaviour in Brantford schools. I conduct parent and teacher interviews to collect background information, complete observations and assessments in the class setting, recommend behaviour management strategies and work with school staff to implement behaviour skill building programs and behaviour as well as safety plans. As a part-time Behaviour Counselor who manages a constantly increasing caseload of students, I assess and prioritize needs of students based on severity of behaviours. In order to be organized and systematic in my approach I established and maintain an excellent system for time management and documentation. Working in this setting has advanced my fluency in applying the principles of ABA as the school setting involves numerous barriers to implementation not present in a clinical setting.

    • Field Placement Specialist
      • Aug 2014 - Aug 2016

In the Autism and Behavioural Science graduate certificate program I source new and confirm existing high-quality field placement opportunities with community partners. I then collaborate with students and other faculty to assess the student’s personal preferences and goals prior to assigning a placement site. I monitor student progress, work in partnership with each agency to promote student success, and address concerns should they arise. Organization is imperative in this role as I monitor fifty students on a part time schedule; balancing scheduling needs while optimizing my availability to students is an ongoing priority within this position.
