Lasal was an amazing classmate to study with. We studied together at the University of Moratuwa when we were undergraduates. Lasal was our group leader for final year engineering design project and we all successfully complete that thanks to Lasal. His guidance, leadership and knowledge made the project easy. It is rare to work with a student as talented as Lasal. I had the pleasure of supervising Lasal's master thesis project on "Distributed machine learning with kernel Radon machines" at Monash university. I was impressed, how quickly Lasal made himself familiar with the complex theoretical background and how resourceful he was in developing the method proposed in his thesis. At the same time, Lasal has demonstrated his talent in software development when he implemented his method within a distributed learning platform.
