I worked with Lars for two years at Sigma Kudos, now Sigma Technology in Shanghai China. Lars was the first colleague to welcome me to the Shanghai branch, and his guidance and support were invaluable to those of us arriving in a completely different work culture. He helped us manage the day to day work activities, and also how to communicate and build relationships effectively. Lars was key to the developing standards for the information design/technical writing teams in Huawei and Ericsson in China. Many of the design teams we were working with had barely any grasp of the importance, let alone the know-how, of creating user documentation. Not only was Lars’ expertise used to establish standards for the customer, he personally led the training of many fellow colleagues in writing technical documents and creating graphics. He has a great deal of passion for and depth of knowledge on these subjects, and it shows in his work I highly recommend Lars to any employers looking for passionate information designers with foreign experience.

Lars Eriksson's expertise is well beyond what he entitled to do here as an illustrator. lars was the best illustrator I've ever worked with, not only because of the good quality deliverables, but also the professional way of working. Other than the regular tasks, he contributed more than expected by actively sharing and educating on various topics, e.g. the information design, the rich media design, career development of a technical communicator, etc. I, as one of his coworker, did benefit a lot from those sessions he delivered or the resources he shared. Lars was born passionate and creative, I believe, that he never stopped coming up with new ideas to improve everything he met, such as, the graphic management system, the not-well-presented content in the documents, the badly designed information structure, and even the authoring tool he rarely used. Most of his ideas are constructive and inspiring, although some were unpleasant to the ears of someone. Lars was a great team player and communicator. When he worked here, he was the only foreign. I was so surprised to see that he fit in on the first day. He chatted and laughed with us, he explained difficult concept with simple words to us, he discussed hot topics with us. I thought that all those effective and pleasant interactions were due to his good understanding and respect to Chinese culture, of course, and his personal communication skills. We all realized that we've lost much without Lars in our team. And I believe any team that is lucky enough to get him in will soon celebrate on the decision you made.
