Bio
Shari Gallop
I have collaborated internationally with Larissa. She is a world-renowned leader in in the coastal-marine space covering a broad range of topics including coastal adaptation and resilience with climate change, including integrating hard and nature-based engineering. I cannot recommend Larissa enough - her expertise, leadership, and mentorship skills, and ability to work across blue-sky and applied projects make her a great person to work with and a leader I and many others look up to in coastal science.
Robin M. Rotman
Larissa was my external supervisor when I was a graduate student at the University of Oxford. At that time, Larissa was a senior scientist with the Environment Agency and also a research associate with the Oxford University Centre for the Environment. Larissa guided my thesis research on coastal sediment transport. She is an expert in the area of coastal geomorphology and coastal resiliency in the face of climate change. She’s whip-smart, compassionate, and eager to mentor the next generation of environmental leaders. In fact, I was inspired to follow Larissa’s footsteps and become a professor myself! What a privilege to now work together as colleagues.
Geoff Brighty
Larissa is one of those people who grabs your attention - super bright, engaging and full of ideas, and very practical to delivering solutions - I just wanted her to be part of my Ecosystems team. She developed geomorphology thinking considerably in the Environment Agency and challenged the established way of river and coastal management - and her legacy is one of much more sensitive river corridor and flood plain management, meeting the outcomes required by the Water Framework Directive, and importantly, wildlife.
