Dr. Larisa Shavinina is a Professor at the Université du Québec en Outaouais (UQO) and the author of more than 109 publications, including books, articles, chapters, and presentations. Her research focuses on innovation, broadly defined, including innovation talent, innovation leadership, innovation management, and related fields such as entrepreneurial giftedness, managerial excellence and wisdom, as well as high ability studies (e.g., scientific talent in the case of Nobel laureates). Her bestselling International Handbook on Innovation (1171 pages), published by Elsevier in 2003, was the first and only encyclopedia of its type, and is considered the beginning of innovation science. The encyclopedia’s aim was to unify the field of innovation by merging business, technology, management, and psychological perspectives. She introduced innovation education as a new direction in education. Innovation is also an important element in Dr. Shavinina’s research on talent and economy, a fundamental part of an innovation-driven economy. Her International Handbook on Giftedness (1539 pages) was published by Springer Science & Business Media in 2009. This handbook sets a new standard for the field of talent and will be essential to scholars’ knowledge base for years to come. Professor Shavinina’s Routledge International Handbook of Innovation Education was published by Taylor & Francis in 2013. It opens an entirely new area in science: innovation education. In 2017 Dr. Shavinina founded Canada 150+: The Canadian National Conference on Innovation. The 3rd edition of the Conference will be held on June 12 & 13, 2019 in the NCR.
