Gained experience with GEM Design Studio for one year, studying for a Level 3 NVQ Design Apprenticeship. Gem Design Studio is an in-house design service that designs and produces brochures, logos, leaflets, posters, display stands etc for both internal and external customers. GEM Design is a learning company run through Barnsley College and is integrated with the apprenticeship programme within the department of Art, Design & Fashion. This means apprentices like myself manage the production of these ‘real jobs’ as well as being supervised by a member of the academic staff – who has over 30 years of design industry experience. GEM helps to provide a unique learning environment for design apprentices like myself, allowing us to engage with professional design and print staff and equipment. Show less
