‘Genuine expert’ is the phrase that comes to mind when I think about Lance, I had the pleasure of working with Lance for three years at Latymer Upper School Sports Centre where FT Leisure not only built our swimming pool but provided service and maintenance. I was impressed by ability Lance has in dealing with even the toughest and clients (such as myself) effortlessly. That skill often takes years to develop among professionals, but it seemed to come perfectly naturally to him as he had not only gone a 1000 extra miles to support us but more importantly coach and teach me in the art of managing and operating a complex pool plant. Our Service & Maintenance department have undertaken a number of reurbishments over the last 3 years, these vary in scope & depth, from simple Pump & filter replacements, to a full 2 commercial pool plant replacement, new strainers, Circ pumps & Vsd's, electro magnetic flow meters, steel filters, UV & Heat exchanges, really good client, really good job. Always looking to build more relationships & deliver good projects.We have promoted Andy Murphy to Service Manager, with Ashley Bury as Assistant Manager, they will make a great team for all our existing & potential customers to contact for all the daily PPM service/ breakdowns etc.I have moved away from the day to day operation of the Service & Maintenance Dept, its been my baby for 7 years, I am now able to further develop relationships with key accounts, improve our H&S documentation, develop new products either in house or to seek new products from suppliers, FTL has always been a forward thinking company, so onwards & upwards. FT Leisure have a busy Service & Maintenance department. My role is very challenging, with great rewards, the department has specialist engineers in the major automatic controllers & UV systems.A large part of our business is the servicing of swimming pool moveable floors, this is a very niche market, but is expanding every year. My role is very customer facing, both in assisting with advice over the phone or visiting pools to see what's going on then hopefully discussing ways forward.The department has increased massively not only to cater for the new & existing business, but for the total plant refurbishments & retro uv systems we are fitting on a regular basis.Our client base has increased significantly over the last 5yrs, when I first started, we had 1 chemical & UV engineer, 1 Admin Assistant & 2 full time divers who worked 50% undertaking filter services & 50% diving works.We are now siting with 70 moveable floor service contracts, so our dive team is full time on Floor services, our admin has increased to 2 full time & we now have 9 engineers.We are supported by our contracts installation teams who will undertake various works for us.
