The purpose of the Multicultural Attache Program is to diversify James Madison University by exposing the campus to different programs and events, designating each month to a different culture. I am paired up with another Multicultural Attache and we are assigned to a specific freshman resident hall that we are responsible for planning and hosting two multicultural programs a month. The first program coincides with the theme of the month and serves as the bigger program of the two. Whereas, the second program is called a "Community Building Activity" which may include: an ice cream social, passing out study snacks or hosting a game night. These programs are all altered to make them fit into the category of multiculturalism. The most exciting part about this opportunity is having one-on-one conversations with the residents about how this program has changed their view on diversity, provided them with resources and informed them of the many diversity organizations that exist on the campus. Each event that we facilitate takes extensive planning and good communication skills between us and those who we decide to collaborate with. Along with hosting programs and events held in the resident halls, we are also committed to working several hours a week in the Center for Multicultural Student Services and in the office of the residence hall. Partnership for the Future (PFF) is a non-profit organization for high school students in the Richmond Metro area who come from different backgrounds and challenging circumstances. PFF seek to provide the appropriate tools and resources for these students to succeed academically and in the professional world. PFF strives to help each and every student that graduate from the program to attain a college degree. As an Intern Coordinator, I work with students (rising Sophomores-rising first year college students) in the summer as a mentor to provide them with knowledge and valuable resources that I have gained as a current college student. Each Friday, I facilitate workshops or serve as a chaperon on college tours. During these workshops, I help students with enhancing their communication and writing skills, as well as professional and leadership development. Show less

I keep a positive attitude even when the I am faced when extreme circumstances. I love to engage in "small talk" with the customers about my career goals and aspirations as well as hear about their fields of interest. I have received numerous complements from my customers, co-workers, and supervisors about my diligence as an employee and positive spirit. • Jun 2012 - Aug 2012

This opportunity allowed me to broaden my horizons and work on projects that are not specific to my field of study. As an intern, I gained experience in photography, filming and video editing. I worked with elementary and middle schools who were members of the Richmond Ballet Company and other interns from different high schools, colleges, and universities. I learned how to use different programs on the Mac computer such as Final Cut Pro to edit the videos. Majority of my work included watching productions (including interviews) that were filmed at Centerstage and creating documentaries out of them. Show less
