Over the past year and a half I have worked closely with Lamis on numerous projects and planning events. She is a natural leader, 100% dependable and calm. We worked together as peers and her as the team leader. Whatever position she held, she was factastic. As a leader, she trusted her team to fulfill their jobs without nit-picking or micromanaging. She was always graceful and even if she was under pressure about the up coming she did not stress everyone else out. On the contrary, she did what she could to help calm everyone down and delegated jobs in the most polite and thoughtful manner. Lamis is a natural leader and hardworker. I would want her on my team every day of the week.

Tasked with launching a student-staffed Peer Mentor program in 2016, I'm in my second year of program oversight and management in this position. I created both departmental and peer mentor training guides and led training for all newly hired peer mentors. In addition to the personalized training given to the peer mentors, I have collaborated with several college departments to offer training opportunities to a wider sphere of student workers. One of the main objectives of the Peer Mentor program is to increase the number of students returning to the college each semester. Through personalized program outreach initiatives, we've seen consistent growth in this area since the program's inception. In addition to the Peer Mentor program, I teach a one-credit academic success planning course as well as a non-credit leadership academy course. Having completed a Masters in Business Administration with a concentration in leadership, I have covered topics including leadership styles, communication, team roles and functionality, project planning, and emotional intelligence. Students in the leadership academy complete the course with a capstone service-learning project. Show less

A main function of this position is to work with students who are new to the college experience and help them efficiently navigate the early steps towards college registration. With this newly created position, I am excited to also have the opportunity to instruct a series of non-credit, leadership classes to a group of academically high achieving scholarship recipients.Additionally, I work with faculty and staff to coordinate a series of success workshops, with topics designed to promote success in college and important life skills. This facet of my position entails securing presenters and topics, working with the college scheduler for room assignments, and working with our design and marketing team to develop promotional materials for these monthly workshops.
