I am the teaching fellow for part I of a three part undergraduate course sequence called Introduction to Data Science. A class typically consists of about one hundred and twenty students. The course is split into three modules: Linear Algebra, Optimization methods, and Probability and Statistical theory, and I am responsible for several weekly discussion sessions for the course each semester. These sessions are a combination of programming in Python using Jupyter notebook as well as reviewing theoretical results and practicing their applications in problems.

I led discussion sessions for graduate students in Econometrics. I introduced them to R and Stata, and practiced programming in them over the course of a semester. These sessions included demonstrations of strengths and limitations of key theoretical results, replication of research papers, and advising on semester-long projects. Using data from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, India, we studied the patterns of firm-entry in Indian since 2000, and find an increase in the share of high-skill service sector firms since the acceleration of the IT-industry. Further, much of the growth is concentrated in regions close to one of the big IT-hubs. Using Matlab, I simulated counterfactual (”what if”) scenarios in a structural economic model of international banking to study cross-country financial contagion under various policy scenarios including a shift in monetary policy, and a bank run.
