As national IT coordinator had direct responsibility for the following specific activities, above other tasks:■ supervised all activities connected with the purchase of laptop computers to support the survey operations. These computers had to meet the minimum technical requirements established by the Consortium and they were available for the PIAAC project during the conduct of the field test and main survey operations.■ configured the laptops with survey software to Consortium specifications.■ provided training to interviewers and management staff in the operation of the laptops and the survey software.■ provided a national Helpdesk for technical support for the interviewers during the survey administrations.■ extracted survey data from laptops and manage the formatting and cleaning of this data for delivery to the International Consortium.In order to work efficiently as IT Coordinator proved to be experienced: ■ in troubleshooting hardware, networking, web-based and web services problems.■ with the operating system specified for use by that country (e.g. Windows, Linux).■ in extracting survey data from laptop computers and managing the formatting and cleaning of data for delivery.■ using trouble ticket systems and/or providing first- and second-level support.■ using virtual machine technologies at the workstation level (e.g. VMware Workstation, VMware Server or VMware Player).■ and familiar with survey operations.
