      • Preparing mesoporous carbon aerogels with 0-10% nitrogen content from 3D resorcinol (R) - melamine (M)- formaldehyde aerogels by tuning the M/R ratio during the polymerization process. • Investigating the effect of the melamine concentration on the morphology (He pycnometry, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Nitrogen adsorption and BET surface area analysis, UV-Vis spectroscopy). • Measuring the electrocatalytic performance in oxygen reduction reactions by cyclic voltammetry and protein adsorption with UV-Vis Spectroscopy • The results showed that the melamine concentration can be a tuning factor as it modifies the morphology of the carbon aerogels resulting in different behavior in protein adsorption. • Preparing reduced graphene oxide (RGO) containing poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPA) hydrogels with two different methods. • Characterizing the samples and comparing the two methods by various microscopic (Thermogravimetry, Raman spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, Atomic Force Microscopy) and macroscopic (kinetic and equilibrium swelling properties and mechanical testing) methods. • The results implied that both the chemistry and the concentration of the incorporated graphene derivatives are promising in tuning the thermal responsivity of PNIPA, which can be utilized in their possible biomedical applications.
