SSYI Transitional Coach
-
Oct 2020 - Aug 2021
The Safe & Successful Youth Initiative is a youth violence prevention and intervention program based out of the 14 cities across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts that have the highest juvenile crime rates. Young adults (ages 17-24) from the area are identified by local law enforcement agencies to be substantially gang involved, engaged in or facilitating high volume illegal activity, and/or perpetrators of violent weapon offenses. The purpose of SSYI is to redirect these individuals who may otherwise continue to perpetuate street violence. Using a combined approach of public health and public safety we aim to reduce youth violence in our community. As a Transitional Coach with this program I act as a facilitator in reintegrating these young adults back into the community by providing opportunities and assistance wherever they may need. Employment and education services, clinical psychosocial trainings, and intensive care management are just some examples of the services that we provide. Show less
