Central Scheduler & Referral/Patient Care Coordinator
-
Jan 2020 - Sep 2020
As a patient care coordinator, I successfully interacted with new and existing PT patients in person and via phone, email, text, and online chat forums to coordinate appointment scheduling, carry out patient requests, communicate with licensed PT’s, and manage copay/deductible collections, while providing exceptional customer service. By implementing detailed data entry and composed electronic health profiles in a timely manner by using different EMR programs, including WebPT and RevFlow, I also worked to optimize patient therapy plans. As a referral coordinator, I helped process incoming patient referrals from various physician offices via fax prescriptions, phone, email, and EHR systems in order to accommodate patient care for over 35 clinic locations throughout the Central Texas area. While a part of the Central Scheduling Team, I was primarily tasked to lead the development and organization of TeleHealth PT services for the entire TexPTS company during the start and peak of COVID-19, establishing efficient systemization and trouble-shooting techniques for all virtual PT sessions.

May 2018 - Jul 2019
I worked as a personal medical reviewer, transcriptionist, and administrative assistant for Dr. Mukund Gundanna, MD. I predominantly compiled records from comprehensive patient medical reports into outlines summarizing diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures in preparation for professional physician peer reviews. I also calculated medical costs and examined them under CPT coding regulations to aide in the physician's written and oral reviews, notarized affidavits, and expert witness testimonies concerning accident-related orthopedic injuries. I also utilized medical documentation and management systems to assist with various administrative and office duties, as well as to provide exceptional service and support to all patients and medical personnel.

Neuroscience Graduate Fellowship Research Assistant
-
Aug 2017 - Feb 2018
I was accepted into and attended the Biomedical Sciences Graduate Program at the Texas A&M Health Science Center, where I focused on the study of neuroscience and participated in experimental laboratory research involving rats and mice for about 6 months, before quickly realizing my true passion for wildlife biology and taking steps to steer towards my ultimate goal in acquiring a career in ecosystem conservation and environmental sciences. Specifically during my lab rotations, I studied the potential molecular mechanisms in brain and spinal cord astrocytes that may contribute to the development of neuropathic pain after spinal cord injury, as well as the possible role of various types of glial cells, including microglial immune cells, located around the dorsal root ganglia of the spinal cord in the facilitation of progressive multiple sclerosis. I utilized advanced molecular technologies, such a confocal microscope and microtome, as well as intricate laboratory techniques, like brain and spinal cord tissue sectioning and immunohistochemical staining during these extensively documented experiments.

I studied the impact of acute inflammation, followed by the transition to adaptive immunity, on syndromes that follow brain trauma injury and researched the effects of certain immune factors on the differentiation and death of normal and diseased cells.I learned how to stain samples for flow cytometric analysis, cultured glioma cells in cell media, and developed proper microscope etiquette.
