    • Produce Recovery Manager
      • Sep 2013 - Mar 2017

As a Produce Recovery Manager at Food Share of Ventura County, I was responsible for organizing volunteers to harvest and rescue almost 650,000 pounds of produce valued at five million dollars. In addition to this, I sourced another 2.4 million pounds of produce from packing houses, local ports, neighborhoods, and farmers. One of my key achievements in this role was creating and managing our database of donors. I used GSuite (Google Sheets, Slides, and Docs) to create automated reports that helped us better target opportunities to the right picking seasons and ensured that volunteer opportunities yielded the most for those in need. This level of detail and insight brought my average wait time from 2 months down to 2 weeks or less, maximizing the yield from as many donors as possible and creating more opportunities weekly for volunteers of all availabilities to get involved in the community. I also developed a route sheet that printed turn-by-turn directions and provided donor history to the driver for when cellular reception was limited. To accomplish this, I primarily used open-source AppScript that guided volunteers with Maps API and the database I had built. In addition, I built web-based forms and applications for volunteer and donor information. This expedited the turn around by prioritizing picks, produce, and volunteers that were available. It's worth noting that I accomplished all of these tasks with no budget other than printer fees. Show less

As Senator of the Arts & Marketing at CSU Channel Islands, I was responsible for enhancing the university's image and engaging its mostly commuter student population. My main objective was to connect with students and address their concerns about entering the professional world. I created and executed successful online campaigns on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, highlighting opportunities for jobs, scholarships, volunteering, and community engagement. These campaigns helped to spread awareness about relevant school and political activities, especially during a time when students were still grappling with economic concerns from 2008. To provide an anonymous platform for students to share their problems and suggestions, I set up an online communication system. This was particularly useful since many students had varying schedules and were unable to attend in-person meetings or events. To foster a more active and engaging campus community, I also worked on organizing clubs and organizations. Our efforts resulted in the implementation of a weekly "University Hour," during which no classes were scheduled, and large auditoriums and halls were available for clubs, career development opportunities (such as resume building, networking, and skill classes), and sports and athletic activities. Overall, my time as Senator of the Arts & Marketing at CSU Channel Islands demonstrated my ability to connect with students and enhance their experiences on campus. I effectively led and organized events, campaigns, and online communication platforms, while addressing the concerns of the student population. Show less

As a Social Media Associate at Haley and Associates, I carried over accounts from my previous employer, SocialMash Media, and maintained the same relationships with those companies within the new office. After SocialMash Media was acquired by a client I had helped, I joined a team of 2 content producers and 3 creatives (Graphic Designers and Photographers) to help with their expansion from one location to 4 locations in Central California. In my role, I managed 10 client accounts, tracked analytical data, and produced content. This led to a managerial role where I became the point person for both the clients and Haley & Associates. Working closely with my team, I effectively led the transition and addressed the concerns and wishes of our clients. We presented ideas and feedback on new projects directly to the client. During my time at Haley and Associates, we saw similar growth in metrics and traffic to clients' sites and e-commerce portals, as we had at SocialMash Media. I also trained one member of the team in project management to ensure effective team management and consistency in the SOPs I had written. Additionally, I was responsible for vetting influencers to increase the effectiveness of reaching new audiences. Overall, my experience as a Social Media Associate at Haley and Associates allowed me to further develop my managerial and team-building skills, as well as refine my social media strategy and data analysis capabilities. As a Social Media Intern at SocialMash Media, I was responsible for creating and automating social media content for 6 clients across Twitter, Facebook, and Foursquare. This involved writing up to 60 posts per day across all accounts, while balancing my junior class work. To streamline this process, I used tools such as HootSuite and website-specific platforms to track and aggregate data into spreadsheets. I also wrote macros in Excel to automate the tracking and analysis of social media impact, reducing the monthly effort from 10 hours to just 2-3 hours. On average, over 50% of the web traffic to our clients' sites was generated through social media, and some of our most viral posts brought in over 100k impressions for just Facebook alone. I worked independently as well as within a team to complete necessary tasks. When my schedule had to change due to finals week, I delegated and logged my job tasks to ensure a smooth transition. As the social face and online presence for our clients, I also monitored specific forums to answer questions and provide documentation for products that were over 8 years old and not available on their websites. Using this feedback, we updated their help pages and used the new links to drive traffic back to their websites, resulting in an increase in support sales. Overall, my experience as a Social Media Intern at SocialMash Media gave me valuable skills in content creation, data analysis, and customer engagement that I continue to use in my career today.
