Bio
Ben Tautfest
Kyle is beyond his years. I worked with him at Rex, where I was surprised to learn was his first full time design role after graduating college. I've worked with senior level designers who couldn't hold a candle to him. He knows his stuff, and what he doesn't know, he learns--without being told what he needs to go learn. Kyle's work is always well thought out and neatly done with care and attention to detail. He's dedicated, resourceful, talented, smart, and he always advocates for the best experience for the user. He brings solutions to the table, and he has the ability to understand complex systems and how his design decisions affect development, and vise-versa. On top of his design skills, he's a stellar teammate who is involved, engaged, and fun to work with. I've seen Kyle challenged by senior leadership on multiple occasions, and he always kept his cool, never got flustered, and always had a good answer/rebuttal. This guy is going to be a leader in the industry, I can't recommend him enough.

My most successful year at Purdue University was heavily impacted by having Kyle as a roommate. During my year rooming with him, our friendship evolved from strictly social to a professional connection that will continue for the remainder of our careers. Kyle helped me redefine how I view success. During this portion of my college career, I defined success as performing well in school and starting a successful career. Kyle; however, strived to be successful in every component of life. He is an excellent example of honing mind body and spirit. While I was focused on my professional and collegiate goals, he pushed me to form additional goals based on physical and mental health. Kyle has faced adversity in every walk of life. Challenges are often regarded as unfavorable times in life. To Kyle, challenges are learning experiences that allow him to work harder, learn and overcome. Months after graduation, we still meet at least five days a week to discuss business ideas, goals, learning resources and stocks. If you are working with Kyle, be ready to laugh, have a good time and match his goal focused work ethic.

Conceptualized a new version of their multimillion-dollar Saas with a strong focus on usability and the customers' self-service experience. This was done through wireframes and storyboards, which were then presented to the executive suite. Collected qualitative data from 8 interviewees. Interpreted and summarized the data into a presentation for the design team. The internship was extended for an additional three months due to my exceptional performance and the quality of work I provided. Show less

For this industry-sponsored project with ABB, we were tasked to create a customer journey to market its energy management software to small to mid-sized companies. I was one of the two co-leaders who guided and managed a team of 5 UX Designers. Along with managing the team, I put a lot of my effort into the information architecture of the product page as well as the UI design for it.
