PURPOSE OF JOB: This is a mid-level post, with national responsibility for the enforcement of all pertinent environmental, fisheries and maritime laws in TCI. Job holders are also to participate in all conservation activities; to maintain park and Protected Areas infrastructures; and to keep all equipment, including boats, vehicles, dive gear and field tools in proper condition. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Enforce all pertinent fisheries, environmental and maritime laws and regulations in TCI. 2. Work with the Senior Conservation Officer to prepare and implement enforcement plans and strategies. 3. Conduct boat or foot patrols, restaurant and fish plant inspections and keep records of all observations and data collected. 4. Interrogate, charge, arrest and present evidence in Court, when necessary. 5. Conduct on-site sand mining inspections and keep records of all extracted minerals. 6. Assist in all DEMA conservation-related projects and activities. 7. Assist the Environmental and Scientific Officers in the collection of data as part of the scientific monitoring activities of the Department, when necessary. 8. Maintain Park and Protected Areas equipment and swim zone infrastructures, moorings, boat lanes, etc. 9. Assist Education Officers in activities that promote environmental awareness. 10. Prepare case files as required for presentation to legal authorities. 11. Inform and work with the Director and Deputy Director on all pending cases. 12. Report to the Director, Deputy Director, Assistant Director and Scientific Officers on matters pertaining to conditions in the field 13. Perform other duties assigned by proper authorities. 14. Adhere to all Public Service codes, rules and regulations. Show less
