  As a machine gunner I was responsible for the tactical employment of the 7.62mm medium machine-gun, the 50 caliber, and 40mm heavy machine-gun, and their support vehicle. I provided direct fire in support of the rifle squads/platoons/companies and the battalions. After attending machine gun leader’s course, I gained the personnel/gear accountability of 13 marines and 2 trucks. While serving in Afghanistan I assisted the battalion in taking control of and securing 143 miles.
