Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association is a not-for-profit, member-based, professional association supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander medical students and doctors. Our purpose is to contribute to equitable health and life outcomes and the cultural wellbeing of Indigenous people. We do this by working towards reaching population parity of Indigenous medical students and doctors, and supporting a culturally safe healthcare system. I was honored to have received the role of UQ Student Rep for AIDA 2022 where I advocate for UQ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander medical students on a national level where we meet with other University Reps monthly. Being an ambassador for QATSIF has really opened my eyes to the importance of community involvement and education advocacy for many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students across Queensland. I have had amazing opportunities working for QATSIF such as the Rural Western Queensland School Tour 2019 where we toured schools in Mt. Isa, Longreach, Charleville, Cunnamulla, Roma, Dalby and Oakey. We aim to go out into community to present inspirational speeches and educational scholarships to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and their completion of secondary education.
