I have worked in a variety of roles within Central Unified, my most current role has been a Long-term Substitute at one of the middle schools in the district. During my time here I have taught an English class for a semester, during which I developed classroom management skills, lesson planning, working relationships with other teachers, and deeper understanding of my depth of knowelege.

Teaching Statement

I am excited to work with high school students because this is a time when they are stepping into a larger role in controlling their own futures and I want to help them find their way. During this time relationships made with adults make a large impression on the students and I want to provide positive interactions and show students that they are cared about. Along with this, I want to help students academically so that they have the best chance possible of staying on top of their work and understanding future material. I hope to achieve this while still allowing students individuality to grow and be nurtured so that they have a good foundation to keep moving forward in their lives. My ultimate goal is to help the students grow into complete individuals academically, emotionally, and mentally. Show less

Head Coach

Head Coaching has taught me how to better communicate between parents and students to make sure that all aspects of the expectations have been communicated effectively. In this position, I have to connect with other teachers and coaches to make sure that schedules are still okay and match what they have, I have taken training that will help to maintain the student's safety, and I have had to be able to provide conflict intervention and conflict resolution,

Long Term Substitute Teacher

During my time as a Long Term Substitute Teacher, I have had to step into a full-time teaching role and learn classroom management strategies. I have also made lesson plans and adapted them to the needs of students. This position has also given me the opportunity to apply concepts of Social Emotional Learning to my students and the strengths that it highlights. Supervision of students both inside and outside of the classroom has also been a big part of this job.

Leadership

I was enrolled in the Leadership class during my time here. This experience led me to be a leader on campus and be a chair for special events. I was a chairman for Kids day my senior year, which meant that I planned the areas, picked the volunteers, counted the donations, and dropped off the total count when we were finished.
