As a friend of ten years, I am glad to write a strong endorsement for Kyle. I met Kyle in the fall of 2005, when he was an ROTC cadet at Ole Miss and I was a student unsure of what to do with myself in the future. Early on, Kyle convinced me that I needed to test myself in the military and develop strong leadership traits. I took this challenge head on and earned my commission just a few months after Kyle earned his, and I am thankful now, more than seven years later, that I had the privilege to serve in the Army and make myself a stronger leader. While we were training to become officers, we shared an apartment in Oxford, Mississippi. Kyle has outstanding God-given athletic talent and has been in the top tier of physically fit cadets or officers everywhere he has trained or been assigned. He's able to run two miles in under 12 minutes and can also do more than 100 pushups and situps each on a physical fitness test. When I started Army ROTC, it was anyone's guess if I was going to come in under 16 minutes on the two-mile run, and I had a long way to go to max out my strength events. Even though he had physical fitness in the bag, I'll always remember the Saturday and Sunday afternoons spent dealing out a deck of playing cards on the floor and having to do the corresponding number of pushups for red-suited cards and situps for black-suited cards. We spent countless hours out in the summer heat trying to improve our endurance for running and road marching. Eventually I was able to knock almost two minutes off of my run time and max out pushups and situps with ease. I don't think I would have had the determination to achieve those goals if Kyle didn't invest so much time in trying to make me better. It has been an inspiration to see Kyle's investment in the future of not only his own family, but in the people of our country. The Founders Force series is an excellent concept that comes at a much needed time - when children are valuing the Kardashians and American Idol more than the principles of liberty in which Kyle's subjects pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor for. Even though I've shared great examples of Kyle's heart for others, I would be doing him a disservice if I didn't mention his work with the Mississippi State Veterans home. While we were members of Army ROTC at Ole Miss, Kyle helped me pull together weekly groups of volunteers to fellowship and play bingo with WWII, Korea, and Vietnam-era veterans at our local Veterans home in Oxford. These experiences enriched not only the lives of the veterans, but of the cadets who shared time with them and listened to the stories of their lives. Kyle exhibits all of the features of what I consider to be Authentic Manhood. An authentic man: 1) Rejects Passivity, 2) Accepts Responsibility, 3) Leads Courageously, and 4) Invests Eternally. He is a selfless worker who makes everyone around him stronger.
