      • Feb 2013 - May 2013

The Outdoor School is an outdoor education program designed to supplement the curriculum taught in the classroom. As an instructor, I worked with classes ranging from 5th to 8th grade and taught subjects like Biology, Geology, Mathematics, as well as leadership and adventure courses. Each week I would have a new group of kids, which we called teams, which meant each week was different. I was responsible for establishing a learning environment that met the goals of each school. Establishing leadership and better communication amongst each one of my teams was a goal many of the schools shared, and one of my favorite skills to work on with my teams, both in the educational class setting as well as the adventure class setting.
